Laura Stevens, a British photographer living in Paris ponders the intersection between the female gaze and the personal in photographic projects titled ‘him’. ‘Being a woman, at the age of forty, contemplating the naked male body feels curiously problematic. With representations of the male nude predominantly made by male artists, there is a lack of imagery exploring a female sensual response to male beauty.’

'Bathers on the Tiber' by Georges Paul Leroux, c.1909 at Beauvais Museum in France. Of all the excuses artists have for naked people in their paintings, going for a swim (and too poor to own swimming costumes) seems the least contrived.
